Engineering Bridages

Global Engineering Brigades goal is to empower communities with a clean water system and also the framework to implement them and care for them. Primarily, focusing in in remote and under resourced communities in Honduras who struggle with either nonexistent or dysfunctional water systems.

The idea of being able to use my skills as mechanical Engineer to design a project that will eventually improve and empower an entire community intrigued me in to joining this project. In this project I automatically took a lead role due to my communication and problem solving skills. My main responsibility in this role was to lead a team mapping and surveying the current pipeline, while communicating and working with community leaders. Along with that my team and I was responsible of creating a projected budget for the new pipeline.

After 5 days of designing, the team and I recommended for the community's water system is for the construction of an ground water system with a pump in order to meet the community’s needs. The system will connect to a 10,000 gallon tank and will connect to the entire community thru 5 km of pipes. The construction of the project is estimate to take around 3 months to complete.
