Hydrocube
Design an integrated battery and electrolysis unit capable of storing excess electricity produced by solar panels,
Hydro-Cube Project is a UCI design project and is my senior design project. Hydro-cube aims to design an integrated battery and electrolysis unit capable of storing excess electricity produced by photovoltaic (PV) solar cells in order to investigate the viability of using a fuel cell as a steady source of power for residential use derived from a renewable energy source.
I was responsible for deriving an mathematical model of an single stack fuel cell and writing a program using MATLAB to simulate and view how certain results change with different parameters and factors. This project was an difficult one since, I wasn't familiar with fuel cells and since we only how 8 weeks to produce results for the end of the quarter design review. Luckily, my faculty advisors were more then happy to help and guide with the project and being efficiently communicate and collaborate with team members made the whole difference.
